Detained engineer may meet mother Friday

Detained Thai national Sivarak Chutipong would have a chance to see his mother on Friday, first ever after two-week detention for a charge of spying, the Thai Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.

Sivarak, an employee of Cambodia Air Traffic Service (TACS), was accused of spying on fugitive former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's flight information and passed it to a Thai diplomat who later was expelled from Cambodia.

He was arrested on November 12 when Thaksin who was appointed as an economic advisor to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen was in Phnom Penh to give a lecture on economic development strategy.
