Policeman, villager injured in Pattani bomb attack



Pattani - A policeman and a civilian were injured when insurgents detonated a roadside bomb to ambush a police patrol unit in this southern border province Friday afternoon.

The explosion occurred at 4 pm on the Tha Dan-Don Rak Road in Thakuborot village in Tambon Donrak of Nong Chik district.

Pol Corporal Atthapol Chumpong, 25, and Rusanee Bueraoh, 26, were injured by the bomb shrapnel. They were rushed to the district hospital.

Atthapol and five other policemen were patrolling the road on three motorcycle when insurgents detonated the bomb with a wired remote. The woman happened to pass by when the bomb exploded.
