Nong Khai - Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn inaugurated the first railway link across the mekong River connecting this northeastern province with Laos.

The new link allows travel by train from Bangkok to the Thanaleng station inside Laos for the first time.

Passengers from Nong Khai can now cross the Friendship Bridge by making a 3.5-km distance ride to stop at the Laotian station.
