Venue change for Teachers' Day event

Following the Bangkok Shutdown campaign next Monday, the venue for hosting the Education Ministry's annual Teachers' Day event had been changed to a large school in Nakhon Pathom - from the traditional site at Khurusapha - The Teachers' Council of Thailand at the ministry.

Caretaker prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra will attend the event on January 16 at Kanchanaphisek Witthaya school in Sam Phran district, said caretaker Education Minister Chaturon Chaisang. The event this year will be held in honour of Her Majesty the Queen.

Companion activities associated with the main event have been postponed and will be organised at a later date, except for granting awards for outstanding teachers, and outstanding agencies under the ministry.

The four outstanding teachers are Ratree Sriphaiwan from Bangkok, Chalermphol Larpheng from the North, Niis-hoh Ni-ngo, from the South and Sunate Thongkham from the Northeast. There are other awards to be given to many other people in the education area.
