Police yesterday presented a 19-year-old suspect, accused of stealing 10 mobile phones during a Bangkok-Narathiwat train trip on August 5, for an initial 12 days of detention at Ratchadapisek Criminal Court in Bangkok. Police were also looking for the man

Somnuek, or Osama Adam – who was arrested on August 16 – carried a Myanmar passport, which contradicted his claim of Pakistani nationality, Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) superintendent Pol Colonel Theeradech Thamsuthee said. With the suspect denying his reported confession after a re-enactment, Theeradech said it was his right to testify, but police were confident the evidence against him was solid, especially the cell-phones that police found on him reportedly belonging to the victims.
The man initially confessed, saying he acted alone and did not drug his victims into a stupor in the sleeping bunk car before stealing from them.
