The Foreign Ministry will open its temporary passport office in the Government Complex on Chang Wattana Road on Tuesday.

Prasitthiporn Wetprasit, deputy director general of the Consular Affairs Department, said on Monday that the office on Building B’s seventh floor could process 300-320 passports per day, which was the limit of the complex’s Internet system.
The office would pass out queue numbers at 7.30am and operate from 9am-3.30pm.
The department had succeeded in negotiating with the anti-government protesters in the Chaeng Watthana camp, led by a senior monk; Buddha Issara, to allow the office to open, but the department’s headquarters at the complex would remain closed.
The department’s two back-up offices at Bang Na and Pinklao were still functioning and could accommodate up to 3,500 passports.
Next week would bring more clarity about the online booking system, which could increase capacity by 1,000-1,200 passports a day, he added.
