South to see more rain, high waves
The weather bureau issued a warning yesterday that more rain is expected in Nakhon Si Thammarat and parts of the south from tomorrow till Wednesday due to Tropical Storm Sonamu, which is moving through the lower South China Sea. The storm is expected to weaken and move to Malaysia tomorrow.
The department said a strong high-pressure zone still covers upper Thailand and the South China Sea, causing cool to cold weather. Temperatures below 16C have been reported in much of the Northeast.
Waves about two metres high continue to pound the lower Gulf coast, in Nakhon Si Tham-marat and parts south. People along the coast should beware of high waves inshore. Ships were told to proceed with caution.
