Soldiers not behind ASTV shootings
Army chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha yesterday insisted that soldiers had nothing to do with shots being fired at ASTV news vehicles on Saturday. He urged police investigating the case to arrest the suspects soon.
ASTV building manager Channarit Hassaworachai yesterday told police that Bt45,000 in damage was caused by gunshots to the building and windows. He would report on the damage to the news vehicles later. Four ASTV cars parked in front of the media company's headquarters on Phra Arthit Road were fired upon at 3.26am on Saturday. No injuries were reported.Chanasongkhram precinct investigator Pol Colonel Jakrapob Sukontarat said officers were still gathering evidence and waiting for ASTV executives' testimony on conflicts that could be a motive for the shootings. He said police had so far interviewed 12 witnesses. Security-camera footage would also be checked.
