Soldier killed in Yala

Insurgents ambushed a military truck in Yala province on Wednesday, killing one soldier and wounding eight others. Security officials are on the hunt for two insurgent leaders - Abha Jehali and Ahmad Luebaesa - who are active in the province and believed to have been behind the attack.

Up to 10 insurgents fired at the six-wheel vehicle from five points on Route 410 in Bannang Sata district. The soldier killed was Sgt Major third-class Nimit Thammakas. Bathing rituals will be held today at 9am at Wat Buddha Phum, before the fallen soldier's body is handed over to his family.
