Sluice gates opened to drain heavy rainfall: BMA
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has opened all sluice gates in the eastern area after several hours of heavy rain over the capital. The downpours, which started around 2am Wednesday, are likely to continue for the next few days.
BMA drainage office chief Adisak Khantee said that the city saw the maximum accumulated rainfall in Min Buri (80 millilitres) and Din Daeng (83 millimetres), while water level in canals were on rise. The office thus took the decision to open all sluice gates in Eastern Bangkok to drain excess water out of Bangkok in readiness for the expected rainfall. Officials would continue to the monitor situation, especially as high inflows of seawater are forecast for tomorrow.
