Primary students loaded down

Bangkok primary school students, weighing about 30-kilograms themselves, carry schoolbags weighing up to 6kg on average to school every day, a survey by University of Thai Chamber of Commerce revealed.

The survey covered 120 students in four schools in Din Daeng, Chom Thong and Bang Khunthien districts.

A study conducted by Ramathibodi Hospital earlier showed that youngsters should carry no more than 10 per cent of their body weight to avoid accidents.
