Politicians, academics join today's forum

The meeting room is packed.

Dozens of politicians, academics and members of the red-shirts attend Sunday's forum at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre.

Opinions were raised on how to end the political impasse.

Absent from the forum was the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC).

Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Phonghtep Thepkanjana said it’s a pity that the PDRC did not join the forum.

He admitted that a comprehensive reform would take years to complete. However, it would take only two years to set reform mechanism in place, including the transparent and fair political system or election.

He agreed with academics’ proposals that politicians ratify the will to reform, before joining the election race. Any party winning the election is held responsible to carry out the reform process. After two years in office, the government would then dissolve the House and call for a new election.
