Airlines flee from Don Mueang Airport

Nok Air and Orient Thai Airways have cancelled flights to and from Don Mueang Airport, on advise from the airport operator, Airports of Thailand.

The airport’s runway is now flooded.

AOT said in a statement that it will close both runways at Don Mueang from 2pm today to 5pm of Nov 1. It said that floods affect the electricity source and visibility enhancement system. Water on the runways could also cause slippage.

Nok Air will cancel all flight operations in and out of Don Mueang Airport from noon on Oct 25 through Oct 31. All passengers travelling during that period will receive SMS via mobile phone about flight cancellation, and travelling date will be open to them automatically for 1 month, with Nok Air staff contacting them soon for more information, regarding travel date changes, or the refunding of their tickets. Orient Thai Airways on Tuesday announced it would relocate its flights from Don Mueang to Suvarnabhumi Airport starting today.

Passengers of the carrier can check in at the departure lounge on the fourth floor.

Earlier Nok Air has suspended using Don Mueang Airport, starting today until November 1. Its flights would be relocated to Suvarnabhumi Airport.
