Men arrested over rosewood seizure

Nakhon Ratchasima Police yesterday announced the arrest of two alleged members of a Siamese rosewood logging gang who tried to smuggle wood worth about Bt600,000 in two modified cars.

The suspects, Khumsab Buttakham, 43, and Chaichana Phalee, 45, were presented to the media along with two sedans in which 12 logs were found hidden. About Bt50,000 in cash was also ceased. 
Khumsab was arrested first at a checkpoint on Chum Palong-Lam Plai Mat Road and told police that he was hired by Chaichana to transport the wood from Buri Ram to Beung Kan in exchange for Bt10,000.
Chaichana allegedly tried to bribe police with the Bt50,000 so they would release Khumsab and the cars. Police arrested him while he came allegedly came to deliver the bribe money.
