Sonthiya Sawatdi, who is suing Samut Sakhon governor for negligence of duty for allowing coal to be transported through the Tha Chin River, told the Central Administrative Court yesterday that he wished to drop the lawsuit.

The plaintiff said he had decided to drop the lawsuit – which demanded that the governor ban the transport of coal and take remedial measures – because he was satisfied with the court’s temporary injunction, which forced the governor to take action and hence improve the state of the river. The injunction was ordered on August 23 last year. The court agreed that the governor had not neglected his duty and agreed to dismiss the case and lift the injunction.
