Three palm and rubber plantations covering 20 rai (3.2 hectares) in Krabi's Muang district that are encroaching on a national marine park are being demolished and reclaimed by authorities.

A team of forest rangers and 10 policemen, accompanied by workers, yesterday began the demolition but did not make any arrests as none of the owners or plantation workers were present during the operation.
A total of 1,143 rubber trees and 15 palm trees have been targeted for removal. Complaints about the encroachment on Noppharat Thara Beach have been made to forestry officials since 2008.
The officials called on the owners of the plantations to declare themselves three months ago, but no one came forward.
Restoration work will be performed after the demolition is complete.
