Heavy rain to batter central region through Saturday
Provinces in the central region--including Bangkok--will continue to be battered by heavy rainfall through tomorrow, Royal Chitradon, chairman of the subcommittee on water situation analysis, said on Friday.
He said he had coordinated with concerned government agencies including the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), the Royal Thai Navy and the Public Works and Town and Country Planning Department to help with drainage to alleviate flooding.
Royal said the monsoon trough now passing through the Central Plains would maintain its strength and cause heavy rains through Saturday.
In addition to Bangkok municipality preparations, he said the Royal Thai Navy has prepared boats to push out water from Klong Ladkrabang, Klong Hua Takae, Klong Bangkhen and Klong Bang Sue.
The Public Works Department has set up 65 pumps in the city’s flood-prone areas to pump floodwater from roadways to canals, he said.
