GAT/PAT may be affected

POLITICAL DEMONSTRATIONS may affect four centres of the General Aptitude Test (GAT) and Professional and Academic Aptitude Test (PAT) in Bangkok, according to the Office of the Basic Education Commission.

These four centres are Wat Bowon Niwet School, Santiratwittayalai School, Sri Ayudhya School and Triam Udom Suksa School.

"Students who are to sit the tests at these centres should closely follow updates on and," commission secretary-general Apichart Jeerawuth said yesterday.

He insisted that the GAT and PAT, organised by the National Institute of Educational Testing Service (NIETS), would continue to be held from December 7-10. "But if the situation is worrying, students assigned to sit the tests at those centres may have to do it at other facilities instead," he said.

The four centres are to serve 6,246 students taking the tests, according to GAT/PAT registrations. Relevant authorities have decided not to reschedule the GAT/PAT because any change will affect university admission schedules. GAT/PAT scores are the main admission criteria for students applying to higher-education institutes.
