Four people were killed and seven others injured when a 10-wheel truck hit their pickup in Hua Hin early yesterday. The victims were supporters of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) on their way back from Bangkok to Surat Thani.
Their pickup was hit by the big truck and forced off the Cha-am-Pran Buri bypass. It plunged into a roadside ditch and crashed into a tree.
The deceased were Amporn Yangyuen, 59, Wuthisak Kaewbuathong, 37, Thavorn Chanthuros, 53, and Saowalak Yodpromthong, 42. The wounded were Nopporn Urairote, a member of Tambon Bang Sawan Administration Organisation in Surat Thani’s Phra Saeng district; Somjai Chuchuaysuwan, a village headman in tambon Bang Sawan; Somporn Anupat, an assistant to the village headman in tambon Bang Sawan; Rithikrai Momit; Wirat Manmuang; and Kosol Kiewtang.
Police were trying to locate the truck driver, who fled the scene along with the big truck.
