A fire broke out at a factory in Ayutthaya's Rojana Industrial Park yesterday morning, causing damages initially estimated at Bt50 million. No injuries were reported.
The fire began at about 9.30am at the Tigerpoly (Thailand) Ltd factory’s storage room where autoparts made of polymer and plastic were stored. It then spread to other parts of building, producing acrid smoke.
It took the 20 fire engines about one hour to bring the flames under control, but not before the fire engulfed the whole building. Factory maintenance officials said that just before the fire, they heard a loud explosion coming from the storage room where the transformer was located. After this incident provincial governor Wittaya Phewphong instructed disaster prevention and mitigation officials, as well as industrial office personnel to inspect the fire and the effects of the smoke.
