Fire hits Bangkok education office
A fire broke out at a printing house in the office of the Welfare Promotion Commission for Teachers and Educational Personnel in Bangkok's Wang Thong Lang district early yesterday.
The damage was initially estimated at Bt50 million (Bt30 million in building damage, Bt10 million in damaged printing materials and the rest in damage to machinery).
Chokchai police officers and fire engines reacted to the alarm just after midnight in the printing house's book-storage building. They took 50 minutes to put out the fire.
The main damage was in the loft where textbooks were stored, and they are now checking 100 printing machines for damage. Police suspect a short circuit caused the fire.
