The Anti-Corruption Network (ACN) yesterday called on the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to launch an investigation against caretaker Education Minister Chaturon Chaisang.

In the petition, ACN secretary general Mongkolkit Suksintaranont said he suspected that Chaturon had dragged his feet in disciplinary cases against Sasithara Pichaichannarong and Chaipreuk Sereerak to benefit them.
“This may constitute a dereliction in duty that has caused grave damage to the state,” Mongkolkit said.
In an earlier investigation, it had been concluded that Sasithara, a former secretary-general of the Office of the Vocational Education Commission (Ovec), had committed serious disciplinary offences. There were also grounds to believe that Chaipreuk, the current secretary-general of Ovec, was involved in corruption related to the procurement of supplies for the Ovec.
Mongkolkit also asked the DSI to investigate the delivery of logs that Ovec had allegedly arranged in place of school supplies to two technical colleges.
