South Korea's Ferry Mishap

Composer Yoon Il Sang writes requiem for Sewol victims

As the death toll from the ferry accident continues to rise day by day, veteran composer Yoon Il Sang has written a requiem for the victims.

"I dedicate this song to the Sewol victims who have passed away ... I pray that they will be happy in the afterlife," Yoon Il Sang wrote on his Twitter page on Wednesday after unveiling the elegy on his SoundCloud account.

Take Care, a calm and doleful piano composition, was written, arranged and played by the composer himself.

"It was difficult to work on because I could not stop thinking of the children who must have desperately clung to life until the end. I hope that the song can act as a consoling companion as they leave," Yoon posted on his SoundCloud page. "I am sorry that I can only do so much," he said.

Yoon Il-sang is a renowned local composer who has written and produced songs for various singers including Lee Eun-mi, Kim Gun-mo, Kim Bum-su, Lee Seung-chul and Lee Moon-sae.

The requiem is available online through Yoon's SoundCloud.
