Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Ning Fukui yesterday visited the National Police Office to find out more information about hundreds of illegal Muslim migrants who were arrested in Songkhla earlier this month.

It is widely speculated that these migrants are Uighur people from China’s Xinjiang province.
As their origin remains unclear, a process of proving their nationality has been launched.
The meeting between Ning and National Police commissioner Pol General Adul Saengsingkaew lasted more than one hour.
Following the meeting, Adul said China wished to take part in the nationality-determining process, and would participate in information sharing in this case.
