Car of slain teacher found in Tak Bai district
A Nissan sedan stolen by insurgents from a slain teacher in Narathiwat's Ba Joh district on Thursday was found in Tak Bai district on Friday.
Chonthee Charoenchon, 51, was shot in the head twice during lunch in his school’s canteen, which was crowded with almost 300 students. The killers had arrived on two motorcycles and had posed as the parents of students.
Chonthee’s keys were snatched from his belt and the attackers made off with the teacher’s Nissan sedan.
In the wake of the shooting, all 378 schools in Narathiwat province were closed until Monday at the conclusion of a meeting by a teachers’ network.
The car was found after police received a tip-off from a source. Police found it abandoned in a forest in Tambon Praiwan at about 1pm.
Bomb squad spent about 20 minutes to inspect the car before allowing forensic officials to look for fingerprints.
Police believed that the car was left there for insurgents to pick up and would use it for car bomb attack.
Earlier a security camera in Yi-Ngor district got the photo of the car.
