Bird, Gybzy in running for WMA awards

Two household names in Thailand - GMM Grammy's Thongchai "Bird" McIntyre, and Wanida "Gybzy" Termthanaporn, a member of RS Public's all-girl band Girly Berry - have been nominated for World Music Awards 2014, organised by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).

Thongchai is in contention for Best Male Artist with superstars like Bruce Springsteen, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, G Dragon, Siwon, Rain, Jay Chou, Kim Hyun-joong, and Psy, as well as Best Entertainer of the Year, and Best Live Act.

"I am very excited to be nominated," the superstar said. "I think it doesn't only depend on my ability, but also on my production team."

Gybzy has been nominated in two categories - Best Female Artist and Best Entertainer of the Year - along with world artists like Alicia Keys, Avril Lavigne, Ayumi Hamasaki, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Lady Gaga, Namie Amuro and Rihanna.

The WMA is presented to the world's best-selling artists in various categories and to best-selling artists from each major territory.
