Ten killed of hospital construction collapse

A four-storey building under construction at a hospital in Samut Prakan's Bang Pli district collapsed on Tuesday, killing ten workers and injuring several others.



The building which is part of the Ramathibodi Samut Prakarn Hospital is intended to be dormitory for medical students.

Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital issued a statement, saying that six workers were killed at the scene when the building collapsed while four others were announced dead at a hospital.

The statement said the project's contractor is Italian Thai Development Plc which has ACSE 110 Consortium as project construction controller.

The accident took place at about 11.30am, police said, adding that the building was being constructed on the road lining the Suvarnabhumi irrigation canal.
