AIT student wins best student paper award

Dong Nguyen of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has been awarded the Best Student Paper award in the West Coast Section of the Air and Water Management Association (AWMA) at its annual AWMA 2014 Conference. AIT students have a record of success in

Dong’s paper is titled “Application of satellite products to derive a spatially and temporally distributed Emission Inventory of Biomass Open Burning in Vietnam for assessment of co-benefits resulted from emission reduction scenarios,” and it is based on research conducted during his Masters study at AIT.
The Best Student Paper Award earns him a cash prize of $1500. He will also participate in the International Air & Waste Management Association meeting and its Student Poster competition, which will be held on 24 June 2014 in Long Beach, California, USA.
A student in the Environmental Engineering and Management (EEM) field of study at AIT’s School of Environment, Resources and Management, Dong conducted his studies under the guidance of Prof. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh.
