A TOUR BUS rammed into a train at a crossing in Nakhon Pathom’s Nakhon Chaisi district yesterday morning, killing three people and injuring 25 others.

“The investigation suggests that the front of bus hit the engine of the train. Judging from the impact, the bus whipped around and smashed into a car of the train too,” said Pol Captain Tanachote Chinwongsa, deputy inspector of Nakhon Chai Si Police Station.

Bus driver Nipon Ladathanakrit, 32, Yaowapa Senanuch, a woman, and Saroj Kitticharoensilpchai, 62, died at the scene.

At least two other people suffered serious injuries – Tanarat Kitticha- roensilpchai, 14, and Weerachart Merin, 59.

The accident took place at a railroad crossing that had neither a moveable gate nor a flashing warning sign. The train, which was heading to Kanchanaburi, did not jump the track, but the coach was tilted and sustained serious damage.

It belonged to Khun Sompong Limited Partnership.
