Police rounded up 16 illegal workers, including a 3-year-old girl and five Rohingya people, in Chumpon's Thung Tako district yesterday.

Following a tip-off that a gang was transporting illegal workers in the area yesterday morning, police rounded up the 16 workers from a Toyota pick-up and arrested truck driver Chayut Sirisom, 32, after the truck fled a police checkpoint and crashed into a roadside ditch.
Police stopped another pick-up that served as a lookout vehicle and arrested driver Yakob Kaewma, 41.
The two men later told police they were hired to transport illegal workers from Prachuap Khiri Khan’s Saphan Noi district to Songkhla’s Hat Yai district and that this was their second offence.
