Crime Suppression Division police have arrested seven men and four women in Prachuap Khiri Khan's Sam Roi Yod district for allegedly working for one of Thailand's major sources of online football betting and baccarat gambling.
Acting division commander Maj-General Noraboon Naenna said the move followed a previous police investigation into Atthapol Suanjaiyen, who was suspected of running several lucrative gambling websites that were now blocked by authorities.
However Atthapol’s group had prepared many URLs, so they could open new sites to take bets within hours, he said.
The investigation found that the group moved computers and a bet-taking call centre to tambon Sam Roi Yod.
Police got a court order to search Atthapol’s house and arrested the 11 suspects.
They also ceased computers, 12 cell phones, 15 ATM cards, a large number of online betting forms and froze bank accounts.
The 11 suspects have maintained their innocence.
