The Chidchob clan finds its niche
Newin Chidchob's wife Karuna has learned the same lesson as him.
Their fellow townsfolk like them better when they stay clear of politics.
Karuna has been working with her hubby in building Buri Ram PEA football club into a national championship squad. The team's success has made them both heroes in the Northeast.
"I was an MP for more than 10 years," she tells Praew magazine, "but it's only since I've been handling the football team that Buri Ram people have come to love me," Karuna says. She used to walk into a crowded room and no one would recognise her. Now they ask to have their photos taken with her.
"They thank me for making Buri Ram people happy. Some say thanks for letting people know where Buri Ram is!"
Things have also changed at home. Karuna says that, before her football duties came along, she was a full-time housewife. "I'm not a good cook but I used to be very neat and clean. Now my house has started to be messy."
So Karuna is asked the same question Newin often gets: any chance of returning to politics? "No, I'm very happy with my life at the moment. I do what I like to do now. I don't know when I'm going to die, so I want to live my life to the fullest."
No pics, please
Former model and THAI flight attendant Chulalaksana Waranon Jutathut was back in Thailand recently for another visit with old friends. She's come over from London regularly since her marriage. We went looking for a photo of her laughing with her chums, but nope.
Hello magazine came up with a picture of the gang that had Chulalaksana holding her hands to her cheeks and MR Malinee chakkabandhu looking serious. They "weren't ready", and we don't mean for the shutter to click.
Chulalaksana had just had a facelift and was still swollen, and Malinee had had Botox injections, stifling her smile.
