Renowned Swiss watch manufacturer Audemars Piguet and PMT the Hour Glass, Thailand’s leading retailer of specialist timepieces, recently hosted an elegant event at the St Regis Bangkok to celebrate the unveiling of the Royal Oak Offshore chronograph “Pride of Siam”.
Audemars Piguet created the “Pride limited editions” to represent the heritage, arts and tradition of different countries by engraving an iconic symbol on the case back of the timepiece. Previous “Prides” include the Pride of Argentina - a tribute to the bi-centenary of Argentina bearing the engraving of the Cabildo de Bueno Aires. The Pride of Russia, has the engraving of the Russian Imperial emblem of the two-headed crowned eagle, a symbol of nationalistic pride and unity while the Pride of China features an engraving of the Great Wall of China.
Pride of Siam pays tribute to the beautiful Kingdom of Thailand through the unique all white Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph. Binding steel and white ceramic for the first time, the Pride of Siam is designed to personify the pristine Thai culture. The medal engraved on the case back represents the royal symbol of the white elephant, which once also adorned the Siam flag. Released in a limited edition of 100 pieces, the Royal Oak Offshore Pride of Siam represents a timepiece of an auspicious and rare beauty.
“For more than a decade, Audemars Piguet has gained a lot of support from Thai customers. We are happy to create this exclusive timepiece engraving it with Thailand’s royal white elephant to honour this beautiful country,” said Oliviero Bottinelli, managing director of Audemars Piguet Asia.
“Audemars Piguet has been actively involved in supporting this sacred animal by participating in the annual King’s Cup Elephant Polo as the main sponsor. As part of our continuing efforts in Thailand, we donated the Pride of Siam No 9 to the St Regis Charity Culinary Gala Auction. We are delighted that the piece fetched Bt2 million for the beneficiaries of HM Queen Sirikit’s Support Foundation.”
Narun Thamavaranukup, managing director of PMT the Hour Glass added, “I am positive that the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Pride of Siam will be one of the most sought after timepieces among Thai collectors. As Audemars Piguet’s distributor, I believe that Thailand’s Pride of Siam limited edition perfectly captures the spirit of our country and will be an asset for any watch collection.”
