Japanese style desserts with imported fruits and Belgian chocolate are too good to miss at this friendly ice-cream boutique

Next time you’re stuck in the horrendous traffic on Ekamai-Ram Indra, pull off and put yourself back in a good mood with a sweet treat and a hot coffee on Parferio by Sfree.
The Japanese-style ice cream boutique has just opened a new branch at Crystal Park community mall and it’s offering a massive 150 choices of home-made desserts, smoothies and aromatic coffees.
Siblings Litti and Dej Kewkacha, who founded the popular ice cream brand Sfree teamed up with Japanese dessert specialist Ikeda Kazuto, owner of two shops in Tokyo’s Ice Cream City theme park, to develop the innovative parfait menus.
Among the goodies are fruit, yoghurt, chocolate and crepe parfaits, bento ice-cream plus more than 20 selections of cakes, fruit sandwiches and kakigori, a Japanese dessert made from shaved ice that’s flavoured with syrup. Targeting middle and high-end customers, the siblings use mainly imported fresh fruits, among them strawberries from America and Australia, melon from Japan, raspberries from New Zealand and Chile as well as chocolate from Belgium as well as Matcha, the finely powdered green tea from Kyoto.
“Our dishes are light and not sweet. We focus on natural flavours and use only fresh fruits and premium chocolate to guarantee quality,” says public relations manager, Thipsuree Jarkthaisong.
Homey but elegant, Parferio is furnished with white tables, brown sofas, earth-toned armchairs and acrylic chairs and seats 50 customers. It also features a dessert bar, where you can see how chefs prepare your dish.
Chocoholics will love the “Chocolate Mania”, which combines 10 different kinds of chocolate from Belgium. It’s priced at Bt149 and features layers of white and dark chocolate mousse, chocolate granita, chocolate brownie and chocolate truffle, all topped with soft cream.
Other must-try menus include “Flour-less Noir”, a chocolate mousse cake served with a cup of chocolate granita topped with soft cream and “Signature Crepe” (Bt145) stuffed with vanilla ice cream and adorned with sliced kiwi, mango, apple, banana, strawberry and dragon fruit.
Anyone who enjoys Japanese culture will appreciate the Matcha parfait (Bt159) made with green-tea ice cream and granita, topped with vanilla soft cream, shiratama, dorayaki and matcha-azuki jelly and the Wafu Bento (Bt169), a dessert box packed with green-tea granita, soft cream, sliced fruits and dorayaki. A selection of tea, fruit, smoothies and aromatic coffee by Aldy’s Coffee Lite blended from Italian Arabica beans is also on offer.
