Nichkhun visits for career shift

The best-looking celebrity in South Korea, say South Koreans in a new survey, is a Thai. Singer Nichkhun Horvejkul of the pop band 2PM is kind of hot here at home, too.

Film director Jira Maligool is making a comeback six years after "The Tin Mine" to help his GTH studio celebrate its seventh anniversary with a new movie, and he picked "the Korean kid" as his star.

Nichkhun was delighted, and spent five days back home for the shoot.

"I'm a fan of GTH movies because they always have good story lines and beautiful cinematography and they're fun to watch. 'My Girl' and 'Shutter' are among my all-time favourites."

Like all singers, Nichkhun wanted to act. (Actors want to sing, too, so it's only fair.) So he got his manager to watch for likely projects, and along come Jira and GTH. Major score!

"I've already thanked the director for bringing me home so I had the chance to watch the sunset again in Thailand. It gave me all the extra energy I needed."

And having Nichkhun in the movie watching sunsets will give his fans all the energy they need to jam the theatres when it's released later this year.

Palmy at play

Singer Palmy "Eve" Pancharoen is always good for a surprise. This time, on the cover of the latest Hamburger magazine, she's unrecognisable.

Well, okay, you'd know that hairdo anywhere, but she's also got a moustache. And a top hat. The magazine has her all dolled up in gear from the Kloset label, although we're pretty sure Kloset doesn't usually accessorise with pistols or insects.
