Let's get this year started!DJs Skream & Benga - the dream don't get betta

Champion Sound continues to please its Bangkok followers with the first DJ act of 2012: Skream and Benga are two of the hottest and most prolific dubstep DJs from England. They'll be showering the fans with their can't-miss sound next week at Bed Supperclub.

Hailing from Croydon, Skream (real name Oliver Dene Jones) is regarded as one of dubstep's most prominent DJs and producers. His debut album "Skream!" was released in 2006, which was followed up by "Outside the Box" in 2010.

As dubstep gained notice from conventional media such as the Guardian, Skream's music became more melodic - less overtly influenced by the darker, UK garage-type sounds of early dubstep artists such as Horsepower Productions, using house and even jazz influences instead.

His viral hit "Midnight Request Line" has been described as "dubstep's most recognisable crossover hit" and been praised by producers as diverse as grime producer Wiley, and minimal-techno producer Ricardo Villalobos. Other hits include La Roux's remix of "In for the Kill" and "In the Club".

Skream has released records on a variety of British record labels, such as Tempa, Tectonic and Big Apple, including a self-titled album on Tempa. He's done a few tracks with Niall Henshaw, otherwise known as Spectrum, and has performed in Europe, the US, Australia and Japan.

Skream used to host a weekly show on Rinse FM called "Stella Sessions". He now co-hosts "The Skream and Benga Sessions".

Skream is not only collaborating with Benga in the studio - they also formed the dubstep supergroup Magnetic Man and tour extensively together. The past New Year they were at the Field Day music festival in Sydney, with thousands of fans joining the countdown.

Adegbenga Adejumo, or Benga, as we know him, is also a Croydon-based producer and DJ and just as prominent in UK dubstep. He first emerged in the early 2000s when the style was still green and wobbly. He's noted for using acoustic drums on tracks like "Live Drums" and "Evolution".

Benga has been featured on several compilations, including Mary Anne Hobbs' "Warrior Dubz", Tempa's "The Roots of Dubstep" and the BBC Radio 1Xtra anniversary mix. His most notable works are probably the crossover anthem "Night" with DMZ's Coki in 2008, followed by his sophomore CD "Diary of an Afro Warrior" the same year, which the DJ community website describing him as "one of the most anticipated LPs in dubstep yet".
