The Guitar Mag celebrates its tenth anniversary by honouring its favourite musicians

Despite a sudden and extremely heavy downpour, the presentation ceremony of The Guitar Mag Awards, held to celebrate the guitar and music magazine's tenth anniversary at Siam Paragon's Parc Paragon, went without a hitch, bringing smiles to the faces of all those present.

TV host and DJ Piyawat "PK" Khempetch, who acted as the master of ceremonies, announced the names of the winners of 11 of the 12 awards. The Inspiring Guitarist award was cancelled as its recipient, Seksan Sukpimai, aka Sek Loso, is reportedly undergoing rehab for a drug problem.

The New Idol Guitarist award went to Thammarat Duangsiri, Lifetime Achievement to Chatree Kongsuwan, Best Songwriter to Nitipong Hornak, Best Man Behind the Scene to Narongrit Techatanawat, New Wave to Singular, Best Style to Slot Machine, Best Male Artist for Tanachai Ujjin, Best Female Artist to Palmy and Best Band to Tattoo Colour. Bodyslam picked up the Popular Vote for Bodyslam and the Single Hits of The Year prize was awarded to Singular's "Bao Bao."

Fans were little disappointed by the absence of Palmy, who had been taken to hospital after too many hours of rehearsal for her long-awaited concerts and Bodyslam, currently on a nationwide tour. Genie Records' managing director Vichien Ruekpaisarn picked up the awards on behalf of both.

Season 5, Apartment Khunpa, Sqweez Animal, 25 Hours, Mild and Tattoo Colour performed short sets during the award presentation and Slur, The Juggs, Prew, Superbaker, Sweet Mullet, Papaeng AF, The Yers, Fong Beer, The Richman Toy and other artists from Smallroom also provided some music.
