Hearts pinker this Valentine's

Valentine's Day is all about love, right, so you straight folks will happily share the love with the gay community. The Mango TV show "Pink Mango" is running a contest on its Facebook page featuring more than 100 photos (so far) of loving same-sex couples.

Interestingly, a surprising number of the entries are coming from the predominantly Muslim South.

Everyone who sends in their picture will be treated to a party later, and the photo that gets "liked" the most wins the couple a romantic night's accommodation in Khao Yai National Park.

So get that snapshot sent in to poupeepink@hotmail.co.th before Tuesday.

Paethongtan "Ung-ing" Shinawatra - Thaksin's youngest daughter - always shares titbits from her life on Twitter, where she's @Ingshin. Her private-mode lock hasn't kept her from amassing a lot of followers.

On January 2 there was a photo of her and her dad that was captioned "Warm hug in Paris". There was a picture of her beautiful ring. There's always lots of happy news.

And then there was this: "My iPhone was stolen!" Ung-ing was quite upset. Friends suggested using the iPhone Finder application and said she'd better alert her service provider so that thief doesn't use it to make international calls at her expense.

That's kind of funny since her old man was a telecom tycoon and his old firm AIS will no doubt take care of any unauthorised calling. Meanwhile Ung-ing is, of course, wealthy enough to buy a shipload of new mobiles.

More likely, whoever now has her iPhone knows exactly who she is and will be sifting through her contacts and photos. There might even be a demand for a ransom.

So let this be a lesson to you: Life is tough even for the rich and famous. Maybe Ung-ing should get an extra bodyguard just to keep her belongings secure. Even if the crooks keep away, we could all use someone to follow us around and remind us where all our stuff is.
