England's supporters are tending to flock the British pubs all over town. The Londoner on Sukhumvit Soi 33 (near Phrom Phong BTS), is a likely hotspot for tonight's England and Sweden game. On Wednesday, you'll get two drinks for the price of one until closing, while on Thursday there's a buy one get one deal on house wine all night. The Sportsman Bar & Restaurant on Sukhumvit Soi 20 (near Phrom Phong BTS) should be full of football fans the world over, thanks to their 11 screens and three HD projectors both inside and outside the venue. They serve Thai and Western food at reasonable prices, and if you're there early, you can enjoy Bt85 Tiger, Bt90 Heineken and Bt95 Carlsberg pints from 11am till 7pm everyday. A Kilkenny pint goes for Bt199 no matter what time you order. The bar also serves Ronnefeldt teas in many flavours at Bt80 - hot or cold - if you want to lay off alcohol for a night. There are quite a few decent options along Sukhumvit Soi 11, near Nana BTS. Recommended is the newly opened Mulligan's Irish Bar that is open round the clock. There's an air-conditioned indoor section, as well as the outdoor area where you can smoke and watch the games on a big screen. Promotions include drinks at Bt100 from 7pm till closing on Tuesday Ladies' Night and Bt80 Chang, Bt90 Tiger, and Bt100 Heineken, Asahi and Carlsberg pints from 4 to 8pm. Old German Beerhouse, also on Sukhumvit Soi 11, is open until the usual time, except on Monday when the German team plays Denmark and other nights with German matches. There are two screens inside and one big projector outside. There are no promotions on the food or drinks but expect a great atmosphere as a large crowd of expat Germans turn up to cheer on their team. Call (02) 651 3838.
Other interesting places include Huntsman Pub in the basement of Landmark Hotel near Nana BTS, which is showing all the Euro 2012 matches with English commentary. Bacchus Wine Bar on Soi Ruamrudee offers an alternative to those who don't fancy the pub. The upmarket venue, popular among the French and Italian, offers buy one get one free drinks all night on Monday and buy one get one free Bt280 sparkling wine from 4 till 8pm every day. Another interesting spot is the funky 25 Degrees at Pullman Bangkok Hotel G on Silom Road (former Sofitel Silom Hotel). The 24-hour joint serves American style burgers, cocktails and wines. A decent spot to hangout with your friends who don't normally enjoy football, 25 Degrees has a cool decor with funky music and does without the loud and annoying football commentary that goes-hand-in-hand with the macho, testosterone-driven pubs.
