Talk show host Wutthithorn 'Woody' Milintajinda launches his own 'Kerd' awards


Wutthithorn “Woody” Milintajinda, the outspoken host of modernine’s “Kerd Ma Kui” talk show, is once again making a name for himself by launching his very own Kerd Awards.
The first in what promises to be an annual event is divided up into eight categories:
_ Kerd Ma Hot (Born to be Hot) goes to an artist who has remained the talk of the town throughout the year.
_ Kerd Ma Prieng (Born to be Famous) rewards a new artist who has rapidly become popular.
_ Kuu Kerd (Born to be Together) goes to an actor and actress in the leading roles on the same show who are considered the best match by audiences.
_ Kerd Dai Jai (Born to Grasp the Main Scene) goes to an actor or actress in a supporting role who outshines the leading players.
_ Kerd Ma Ha (Born to be a Comedian) is for the most popular comedian.
_ Kerd Ma Hai (Born to be Giver) goes to the artist who gives to to the public,
_ Kerd Ma Pop (Born to be Pop) is for the most popular singer with most famous song of the year.
_ Kerd Award of the Year is for the artist considered to have most influenced Thais during the year.
Nine judges – Thakolkiet Veerawan, Yuthana Lopanpaibul, Marut Sarowat, Thai Beverage vice president Charlotte Donavanik, Nitipong Hornak, Setha Sirachaya, Sattakamol Worakul, Siam Commercial Bank’s Supee Pongpanich, ML Bangkok Airways’ Nantika Worawan and of course Woody himself – first selected 10 nominees in each category. They then whittled them down to three nominees apiece. Fans’ votes will decide the winners.
Channel 3 anchorman Sorayut Sutasanajinda has been nominated in the Kerd Ma Ha and Kerd Award of the Year categories while actor Nadech Kukimiya and actress Urassaya Sperbund are up for  Kerd Ma Prieng and Kuu Kerd.
Actor Pakorn “Boy” Chatborirak is named for Kerd Ma Prieng and Kuu Kerd and actress Chermarn Boonyasak gets nods for Kerd Ma Hot and Kuu Kerd.
Winners get a gift basket full of swag from such brands as by La Mer, Joe Malone, Apple (an iPad 2), Lamptitude, SB Furniture and Bangkok Airways. There’s also accommodation in a one-bedroom pool villa at the Sri Panwa resort valued at more than Bt300,000. The total of all the prizes is Bt7.2 million.
The awards will be presented next Friday at 5pm at Crystal Design Centre’s Grand Ballroom. It’ll be under concept “Spirit of the Night” and will feature a show by Tata Young and Pakorn “Dome” Lum.
