A world of wine Uncorked

Join the Uncorked Wine Club for a huge selection, great prices and special events

The Uncorked Wine Club makes sure its members get to try the best and the latest from around the world at lower prices, all in the comfort of their own homes. Gone is the ordeal of hunting down and purchasing the wines you want most.

Unlike suppliers who maintain mailing lists but keep offering the same labels month after month, and the shops that stick to the same suppliers, Uncorked has no such limitations and its prices are not unfairly marked up.

The selection of Old World and New World wines is vast, running to 600 labels from virtually every major wine-producing country.

"Members get an inside look at the world of top-quality wine," says Thara Mongkondejkun at Uncorked marketing. "There's great diversity throughout the wine-growing regions we tap into, which leads to a wide selection. All our wines are carefully selected and personally evaluated by our panel of experts and enthusiasts, and we specialise in a unique range just for the Thai market."

There are three membership packages to choose from. "Discover" offers a selection of the club's best-value wines. For Bt1,500 per month you get one bottle of white and two bottles of red, along with the regular discounts on other vintages and invitations to special events. "Premium" costs Bt3,000 and brings three bottles delivered to your door. And "Prestige" is Bt6,000 for the most exclusive selection, including foreign labels not included in the other packages.

The prices of the wines on offer to members range from Bt450 to a staggering Bt5,000 per bottle, and often there are lower or even wholesale prices. Add to that 10-per-cent discounts on glassware, wine gadgets, coffee, spirits and liqueurs.

There are regular wine-tasting events at fine restaurants where members pay less for admission, or nothing at all.

"I like it that you can not only order good wines conveniently, you also get to try wine with nice food," one member said at the tasting held at 99 Rest Backyard Cafe last week. "They often have a sommelier to explain about the wines and give you tips on pairing them with food.

"Wine-tasting events are normally held at hotel restaurants and bars, which can be pricey and exclusive. The Uncorked Wine Club events are more casual, and even non-members only have to pay Bt1,500 on average, which isn't bad considering you get three or four kinds of free-flowing wine as well as food!"
