U.S stocks finished sharply lower Monday amid light volume as confidence in the U.S economy declined while investors remained cautious ahead of several major economic reports to be released this week.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 140.92 points, or 1.39 per cent, to close at 10,009.73.
The S&P 500 fell 1.47 per cent while the Nasdaq slipped 1.56 per cent.
Crude oil closed at USD 74.09 a barrel, while gold settled at USD 1238.7 an ounce.
