Student Federation to boycott reform panel, assembly

The Student Federation of Thailand (SFT) said Tuesday it will boycot the National Reform Commitee and the National Reform Assembly Committee, whose heads, Anand Panyarachun and Prawase Wasi were appointed by Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva because the govenrment can not act as a mediator when it is responsible for the death of 91 people between April and May this year.
"This is just a soap opera staged in order to fool the people," said Soonyata Mianlamai, newlyelected spokeperson of the SFT. "In the end, these committees are not even truly representative of people from all sectors. Reconciliation cannot be achieved when paved by blood of those killed. Reconciliation amidst hatred cannot bring about peace.
"The government killed a group of citizens and placed blamed on them, then it tried to coerce them to forget what had happened and not be hateful so a new happy beginning can ensue for those with conscience for what's right and wrong, such thing cannot be accepted."
