SONGKRAN TOLL: Road-safety campaign a ?success?

Deaths, injuries down markedly from last year, says disaster agency The road toll during the Songkran holiday period dropped significantly this year, with fatalities falling by 20 per cent and the number of injured by more than half over last year. The number of deaths stood at 481 for the past nine days, compared to 605 for the same period in 2004, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department director-general Sunthorn Riewluang said yesterday.
