Phitsanulok - A mother Friday drowned in a river after successfully helping her four children to safety.
The children were between three and 11 years old.
"Mom helped me and my three siblings to a bamboo stick before she disappeared," the oldest child Chanchai Kruaboon said.
Passerby Ounruen Kerdpin, 50, said she extended the bamboo stick to the accident victims in the river after seeing their pickup run right into the river.
"In all, I could save four children and one man," Ounruen said.
The man, Somsak Kruaboon, was seriously injured. He is the father of the four children and drove the pickup at the time of the accident.
