Magnitude-7.2 quake shakes Alaska, prompting tsunami warning

Washington - An earthquake of magnitude 7.2 struck in the Aleutian Islands in the US state of Alaska, prompting a tsunami warning, US agencies said.
No damage or casualties were reported in the sparsely populated area.
The tsunami warning was lifted about an hour after the quake struck at 6:10 pm Thursday (0310 GMT Friday) near the Fox Islands, about 1,700 kilometres south-west of Anchorage, the US Geological Survey said. It occurred at a depth of 63 kilometres, it said.
The West Coast and Alaska tsunami Warning Center said no tsunami was detected and a tsunami danger no longer existed for Alaska, the US West Coast or British Columbia when it cancelled its warning. //DPA
