Govt security panel concerned about traffic snarls during mass red-shirt rally next week

The government's security situation monitoring committee is worried about possible traffic snarls during a mass rally by the red-shirt people next weekend, Army chief Gen Anupong Paochinda said Friday.
Anupong said the committee does not worry about untoward incidents but is concerned about traffic problems.
The red-shirt leaders announced they would start mobilizing supporters of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra next Friday and lead them take part in a mass rally at Sanam Luang on March 14.
The red-shirt leaders said the protesters would travel in about 100,000 pic-up and farm trucks.
The red-shirt leaders indicated they plan to hold Bangkokians hostages by causing traffic gridlock with so huge number of trucks they would take to Bangkok streets.
