Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra Monday signed a memorandum of understanding on antiglobal warming efforts with the French Development Agency (AFD).
The French government also offered a loan, at 0.3 per cent interest, to help BMA build a Bt7.8 billion wastewater treatment plant in Klong Toei.
However before BMA could ask for French support or expertise on these projects, further discussion was needed on raising or borrowing funds, he said.
Construction details for a treatment plant would be determined later - but initial plans said the Thai government would fund 40 per cent and the city cover the rest, he said.
Sukhumbhand said that together with the heads of 40 cities, he would join the Copenhagen climate change conference from December 15 to 18, where he planned to present city projects, especially the floodtackling Klong Lat Phrao scheme.
