DSI asks prosecutors to charge 7 Sunshine Empire pyramid scheme suspects


Department of Special Investigation (DSI) submitted to public prosecutor and presented seven suspects in the case of Sunshine Empire (Thailand) Co Ltd's pyramid scheme, selling health products and 4G cell phones.
The suspects were accused of duping 130 people of some Bt98.8 million.
DSI Special Criminal Case Office chief, Pol Col Piyawat Kingket, said Tuesday that DSI investigation found that the direct-sale firm lured public members by faulty ads on www.sunshineempire.com that the company, located at Bangkok's Exchange Tower Building and headquartered at Singapore, offered two investment plans; Bronze Merchant priced at Bt6,300 and Silver Merchant at Bt27,900. It promised that if an investor got other two persons to invest, he would get 100 points or Bt3,600 in commission fee per pair. If the two persons went on to get other two pairs, the profit would grow, the firm said, however firm limited the commission payment to only one pair per day.
