Banharn says he will not abandon Democrat


Despite dissatisfaction over the Democrat Party's rejection to the smaller coalition partners' bid for constitutional amendment, the Chart Thai Pattana Party would not abandon the Democrat-led coalition, the smaller party's patriarch said Monday.
Banharn Silpaarcha, a former prime minister who is now Chart Thai Pattana's chief adviser, insisted that his party would not switch the political camps as a result of the discontent over charter rewrite.
"We won't dump one another. I am a man of my words. ? When I agree to help, I will do it all the way," he said, referring to the "gentlemen's agreement reached with the Democrat Party when the coalition was formed in late 2008.
